Spring tips for trailers

Now in the springtime, the home, garden, and car get a deep cleaning. But who takes care of the trailer? It mostly gets put to work again without being cleaned. But even a little bit of care would extend its lifetime considerably.

A few tips:

1. Take off the cover, if you have one. By doing so, you ensure adequate ventilation and can avoid moisture accumulation.
2. Wash the aggressive winter road salt off with clear water or a neutral cleaning agent. If you use a pressure washer, make sure to avoid direct contact with the brake system and the wheel hub, as well as with the lighting.
3. You can protect the surfaces even more with a protective wax. Damaged spots can be repaired with protective zinc paint.
4. De-grease the trailer’s overrun device.
5. Check that all screwed or bolted connections are tight.
6. IMPORTANT: Check the lights before each use.
